    Mahjong: Beyond the Basics

You know the fundamentals, let’s grow your skills.

This Mahjong class is designed for early players who understand the suits, the NMJL card, and the basic flow of the game, but want to play with more confidence and strategy. We’ll refine tile recognition, improve hand selection, and strengthen your decision-making through guided practice and full rounds of play.

You will learn how to optimize discards, read exposures, avoid common mistakes, and think more defensively as you anticipate opponents’ moves. We’ll revisit essentials like building walls and the Charleston while helping you transition from beginner play to more strategic, thoughtful Mahjong.

Ideal for anyone who has completed an intro Mahjong class (or 3!) or played a few games of Mahjong and is ready to take the next step.

Come ready to learn, leave playing with confidence.
